That means people should be environment-friendly, child-friendly, and pet-friendly. This way, you can say your dream house is in a safe place. Consider also where the garage is located. Ensure you will not get wet when it rains as you alight from your car. Knock on wood, they say. Yes, knock on it to check the house for its wood’s hardness or durability. If concrete is used, check for cracks on the walls or flooring.

The next step is to find the stairs. Test step on the stairs and determine if they’re user-friendly. Try checking next the safety of the doors and windows. Is there a safe fire exit? You’re almost done with checking whether that house is, indeed, your dream house. Check on the trees around the house if they’re safe.

Plumbing is something that you should not ignore. Check whether it is working fine. Once you have decided that everything is okay, it’s time to pay. If possible, pay in cash but if you can’t you can apply for a loan. However, a loan can be very impractical because of the interests involved. When you go through the process of acquring your dream house, hiring a solicitor is advisable since he can guide you through out the process especially when dealing with all legalities in the acquisition.

Buying a house involves a large amount of money and a lifetime of commitment. When you have paid for everything, you will now call that place your home. Finding that dream house is not that difficult as it seems. Just make sure that your decisions are well informed and sound.

Window drapes add life to the decor theme

 Imagine a house with no windows at all; it would seem like nothing more than a dungeon - a lifeless place with no light or air. A window makes the room look brighter and livelier. It is a valuable light source and the view can be the ultimate piece of art.

A window gives beautiful outside views; at the same time you can keep an eye on your kids playing in the backyard, or even avoid the salesman coming to your door! Windows are eco-friendly home dcor products as they provide natural lighting, ventilation, and help keep away heat waves in summers and let in fresh air always.

Most flats today have sliding windows, which either leave 33% per cent of the window closed or 25% closed depending on whether it is a three-track or four-track slide respectively. Such windows cannot open fully and thus bar light as well as the view. The best kinds of windows are the olden style openable variety where the windows open fully when required. Though there is very little scope left with sliding windows for innovation, there can be different kinds of window blinds to make it look better. Today, PVC frames are in fashion. These are used as an alternative over the traditional aluminium frames, which get damaged in rain and cannot be decorated other than the typical silver polishing or oxidizing. Both these are not fashionable anymore.

One-side view films (like on car windows) are also used these days to maintain privacy as most flats have slides through which other people’s houses are clearly visible.

Drapes falling off the windows are another form of decoration from inside. Light netted curtains bring in more natural light while it adds beauty to the room. Using longer curtain poles maximises light intake, so fully open drapes are not partially obscuring the window. Windowsills painted in bright colours help reflect light. In a city like Bangalore, box windows are the ideal solution - not only do they prevent sun rays from coming in, but they also prevent the rain from lashing in. A box window is an extension of the frame, and, if you have no balcony, it is the ideal place to hang your pot plants or your wet clothes.

Windows should rarely be kept closed as it makes the room damp and suffocating with very little light. Opening windows wherever possible allows fresh air circulation and obstructs unpleasant sounds from the outside world. In case of too many mosquitoes, openable nets can be used on the windows. Placing a mirror on the wall opposite the window reflects light back into the room and carries a second view.

Windows on the west side of the house should be avoided; the west should ideally have minimum openings on this side. Mainly the afternoon heat between 2 to 5 p.m. brings in a lot of negative energies. Windows in the East and the South are the best as they allow good light and brightness. The North side gives uniform light throughout.
